The disappearance of Raoul Wallenberg
Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish architect and businessman. He is known for his heroic act of saving Jews from the Nazis during the Holocaust. The Roanoke Mystery
The Lost Colony of Roanoke is a popular unsolved mystery in American history. This happened in the late 1580s on Roanoke Island, which is now in North Carolina. The colony was founded by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1585. Governor John White founded another settlement in 1587 and returned to Britain for supplies. But when he returned in 1590, the entire colony had disappeared. There were no traces of colonists anywhere. About 112 to 121 people are missing.
Only the words “CROATOAN” carved on a fence post and “CRO” on a tree were found. George Mallory was an English mountaineer. He also served as a lieutenant in the British Army during the First World War. He had climbing experience in England, Scotland and Wales, and also participated in many expeditions in the Alps. He participated in the British scouting expedition to Mount Everest in 1921.
Unfortunately, his first two attempts failed due to the extreme conditions. Mallory embarked on a third attempt in 1924. On June 8 of that year, Mallory and Andrew Irvine set out on a summit expedition. But they never returned, leaving everyone wondering what had happened to them.
Years later, in 1933, Irvine’s ax was found at high altitude. In 1999, Mallory’s body was found at a lower altitude, adding more mystery to their story. The disappearance of Mallory and Irvine on Everest remains one of the most significant mysteries in the history of mountaineering.

This led to Edward V and his younger brother, Richard, being imprisoned in the Tower of London.

Ambrose Bierce: The Missing Writer
