A MAJOR fire has broken out near Liverpool city center – and one building is “showing signs of collapse” after the horrific blaze.
Firefighters were called to Fox Street at 2.18pm this afternoon and arrived to find the 100m by 50m four-storey building “well alight”.

The building is showing signs of collapse and fire crews are evacuating the buildings, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said.
Shocking photos and video footage show plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky above the city – as emergency services declared a “major incident”.
Videos and photos posted by onlookers on social media show the inferno can be seen for miles.
The road is closed and emergency services are on the scene.
There are no reports of injuries.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: “Fire crews were called to a large fire in Fox Street, Liverpool city centre, L3. 12 fire engines and two aerial appliances attended.
“The teams received a report at 2:18 p.m., and the crews arrived at the scene at 2:23 p.m. and found a four-story building 100 x 50 meters on fire.
“The incident was divided into sectors, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with main pipes.
“The building is showing signs of collapse and fire crews are evacuating the buildings.
“The incident is ongoing. Please avoid the area.
“Residents and businesses in the vicinity should close their windows and doors.
“If you have an existing medical condition, keep your medication close by and if any ill effects occur, call NHS 111 for advice.”
In a report at 4 p.m., firefighters announced that “the incident has been declared a major incident.”
They added: “The fire is divided into 4 sectors, with ground control boom mains, multiple boom mains and combination platform ladders in use. 12 fire engines and 2 aerial appliances are still on the scene.
“Merseyside Police are also in attendance assisting the MFRS in evacuating the building.
“A cordon has been set up around the building and the wider area, with roads blocked.
“Great Homer Street, Fox Street, Rose Place, Great Richmond Street, Richmond Brow, Netherfield Road South, Everton Brow and Prince Edwin Street were closed to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
– There are no reports of casualties.
