LL Cool J joins NCIS Hawaii spin-off following Los Angeles cancelation

We may have waved goodbye to NCIS: LA, but fans will be happy to know that a fan-favorite character from the spin-off will be returning to the screens soon. LL Cool J, who plays Sam Hanna in the police procedural drama, will join the cast of NCIS: Hawaii.

The actor and rapper, who is adored for his role on the CBS show, shared the news on Instagram. Posting a photo next to Vanessa Lachey, who stars as Jane Tennant, the star wrote: “Can’t keep Sam Hanna away from the case for so long!!

“Starting tonight, Sam Hanna will join forces with the @ncishawaiicbs team as a regular guest star in the upcoming third season.” He added: “Check out the season 2 finale episode of @ncishawaiicbs on @cbstv at 10 ET/PT or @paramountplus for live and on-demand viewing.”

Fans are naturally delighted at the news that Sam will not be absent for long. One person wrote under her post: “Congratulations, glad they haven’t gotten rid of Sam yet.” Another said: “Yes, he is the one I will miss the most in the LA team, glad to hear this.”

The news was also confirmed in a statement explaining that the star, born James Todd Smith, will reprise the role of Sam as a recurring guest star in the upcoming third season after appearing in the end of season two in Hawaii.
