We may have waved goodbye to NCIS: LA, but fans will be happy to know that a fan-favorite character from the spin-off will be returning to the screens soon. LL Cool J, who plays Sam Hanna in the police procedural drama, will join the cast of NCIS: Hawaii.
The actor and rapper, who is adored for his role on the CBS show, shared the news on Instagram. Posting a photo next to Vanessa Lachey, who stars as Jane Tennant, the star wrote: “Can’t keep Sam Hanna away from the case for so long!!

“Starting tonight, Sam Hanna will join forces with the @ncishawaiicbs team as a regular guest star in the upcoming third season.” He added: “Check out the season 2 finale episode of @ncishawaiicbs on @cbstv at 10 ET/PT or @paramountplus for live and on-demand viewing.”
Fans are naturally delighted at the news that Sam will not be absent for long. One person wrote under her post: “Congratulations, glad they haven’t gotten rid of Sam yet.” Another said: “Yes, he is the one I will miss the most in the LA team, glad to hear this.”

The third added: “This is amazing! Makes this fan so happy!” fourth person commented: “OMG YES!!!! Huge announcement.” Vanessa was clearly thrilled to have LL join the cast as she posted the same photo on Instagram with the caption, “Amazing! Our Ohana is growing. So excited to have @llcoolj join the cast. #NCISHawaii!”
The news was also confirmed in a statement explaining that the star, born James Todd Smith, will reprise the role of Sam as a recurring guest star in the upcoming third season after appearing in the end of season two in Hawaii.
The show’s bosses said: “All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been die-hard fans of LL Cool Ja for many years and couldn’t be more delighted or honored to have added breathtaking talent. his entry to our ohana for the third season.”

Vanessa also said in a statement, “One of the greatest things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring brands together. We’ve been excited to spread aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the crossover triad.
“We now have a great opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawaii to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to ohana, Todd! That’s gonna be! It’s been a fun ride!”
Meanwhile, the NCIS: LA spin-off came to an end last week with a two-part finale, with Sam’s future being revealed at the end of the episode – leading many to think the agent could have a lot more to offer. so again.
Arriving in Morocco, Sam and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) run into Nell (Renee Felice Smith) and the other members of their party and are tasked with helping Hetty (Linda Hunt), who is “in a bind” tie”. Nell then turned to her team. and say, “Are you ready for your next adventure?”
Viewers at home pay attention to this detail and believe that there are more stories to tell. “Well, I didn’t know #NCISLA was over! The last scene… the team in Morocco was going to have a side match right? NCIS International?” wrote one on Twitter. Another said: “Why do I have a feeling we might have a new series with Callen and Sam after this new adventure???? #NCISLA.”
