Lo Bosworth doesn’t tend to look back on the past.
The entrepreneur who founded the popular food supplement brand Love Wellness in 2016 and will soon launch a new Gut Feelings podcast, she may have shot to fame when she starred in the Laguna Beach and Hills — but that doesn’t mean she ever wanted to be a star.
“I just wasn’t comfortable being in the party,” she tells PEOPLE. And no, she doesn’t stay in touch with any of her former colleagues, except for one.
“Lauren [Conrad] and I keep in touch, but everyone else went their separate ways after the show,” she tells PEOPLE. “They were more like my co-workers, not like friends that I’ve had organically since high school like Lauren. And I don’t really know anyone who keeps up with their colleagues from 20 years ago. There’s this assumption, ‘Oh, you have to keep in touch,’ but I don’t think that’s normal for anyone.”

Bosworth says she has remained focused on building her business since leaving the show. Most importantly, she made sure that being a reality star didn’t dictate her future.
“I made an agreement with MTV before I participated Laguna Beach that I would do a show with fences”, she explains and adds that she was never “comfortable” being in variety shows.
“I never wanted to be the one at the center of drama, fights and going out, mostly because I was just a teenager at the time and I wasn’t comfortable sharing those things on national television,” she says. “I was just too shy and too embarrassed. Ultimately, I think it served me really well because I was never that interested in participating in the way that some of the other cast members were willing to participate.”

On Gut FeelingsBosworth invited friends, including Hannah Brown and Katherine Schwarzenegger, to hang out and answer questions from listeners about health issues.
“I think it really exemplifies what I’m good at, which is giving advice and being friendly,” Bosworth explains of the podcast’s direction. “And that’s how we answer listeners’ questions about matters of mind, heart and health.”
She continues: “The shows are 25 [or] 30 minutes, and they are very easy to listen to. None of the guests will just retell their stories that they have already told 15 times. They share new things and tips, and it’s not necessarily a project they’re trying to promote.”
Bosworth confirms, “Creating an advice show feels very much in line with what we do as a brand, which is building and nurturing community. It’s not about me, it’s not about the guest, it’s about the listener.”
