Logan Mwangi’s evil mum shows cops how she punished son, 5, moments after crying fake tears over his brutal murder

THIS is the chilling moment Logan Mwangi’s killer mum showed cops how she punished her son after crying fake tears over his murder.

Little Logan was found with “severe injuries” likened to a “high velocity” car crash after being dumped like “fly-tipped rubbish” in a river.

His mum Angharad Williamson, 30, stepdad John Cole, 40, and his 14-year-old stepbrother Craig Mulligan were all jailed for murder in 2021.

Between them, the sadistic trio hatched an “elaborate charade” to cover up his death after all participating in a grisly campaign of torture against the youngster.

Little Logan’s tragic death has now been explored in Discovery+ show Faking It using never-before-seen police interview clips.

Body language expert Dr Cliff Lansley has broken down how Williamson revealed her guilt at killing her son with tell-tale signs.

The evil mum sobbed as she told how she had put Logan to bed the night before he vanished from home in Sarn in South Wales.

But Dr Lansley points out Williamson is only doing a “few dry sniffs” that indicate a lack of real sadness at her son’s death.

He adds: “We can’t see the face clear enough to see if there’s genuine tears, but what we can see is the head going further down, the hands clamping, and we can hear the quality of voice, which fits more with the ‘whine’ rather than ‘genuine sadness’.

“In addition, there’s the illustrators she’s using. She’s trying too hard. These kinds of excessive illustrators are to try and convince people, which you don’t need to do if you’re telling the truth.

“If you watch the tip of the nose, we get this little head-shake ‘no’. So these affirmative claims of ‘I put him to bed’ and ‘I tucked him in’ are highly likely to be deceptive because we’re seeing the body tell us the truth that, ‘no, this is not what happened’.”

As the interview continues, Williamson suddenly becomes defensive when asked about the lights flickering in Logan’s bedroom.

She claimed she woke to find the youngster gone but it soon transpired the lights appeared to be going on and off during the night when she was alone in the house.

Moments later, the shadowy figures of Cole and the teen were seen on CCTV leaving the property carrying lifeless Logan.

Dr Lansley said the switch between apparent sadness to defensiveness at the questioning is done in “seconds”.

He adds: “Wow, what a recovery. She’s now using a tone which is a little bit aggressive and saying she did not switch the light on.

“But if we remember, seconds before this she was trying to perform sadness. Does this sound like she’s still in a sad state? She’s very forceful and definitive.”

Logan was murdered at home on July 31, 2021, before his mum, stepdad and stepbrother concocted a web of lies.

The 3ft 5in youngster had been squeezed into a Nike holdall which measured just 2ft 2in long.

He was pulled from Ogmore River close to his home in mis-matched pyjamas.

Tragic Logan suffered 56 external injuries to his head, face, torso arms and legs from “blunt force trauma”.

The horrific catalogue of injuries included a fractured shoulder, extensive bleeding to the scalp and back of his head and a significant trauma to the brain.

Logan had been so battered even his tongue was bruised but tragically he was still alive for several agonising hours after his liver and bowel were torn.

During a harrowing trial, jurors were told how Logan had suffered horror abuse leading up to his death.

Witnesses said Cole inflicted gruesome torture methods on the youngster from the age of just three.

The abuse included forcing him to do press ups until he was in tears and standing for prolonged periods of time.

If his frail arms collapsed beneath him, Cole would make him get back in position and re-start the timer.

The 6ft 4in National Front member also branded the youngster “Coco Pop” and “dehumanised” Logan because of his mixed race heritage.

Cole, who has previous convictions for offences including burglary, theft, witness intimidation, blackmail, battery, and perverting the course of justice, also carried out other brutal punishments.

Little Logan was made to stand on the stairs for 30 minutes at a time and mum Williamson once used a hot teaspoon to burn his neck.

He also suffered emotional abuse and was blocked from eating takeaway food while his family tucked into KFC.

Williamson can be seen in the documentary re-enacting past moments where she grabbed her son by the shoulders and shook him to get him to “stop telling lies”.

Dr Lansley explains this is the only time where the mum shows any real emotion as it is likely she is relieving the moment Logan was injured.

He said: “She’s reliving some physical moments that she’s had in the past. And this happens because, when we’re telling lies, we’re fabricating a story, which is not easy, but we’ve also got to suppress the truth inside.

“And sometimes when we’re recalling an episode, we go back there and we listen to the sounds and we replay the video, and sometimes, we re-enact the moments. Her body is showing us what probably happened at the moment Logan got injured.”

During the trial, Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC said she played the “part of a distraught mother to the best of her acting abilities”.

She continued the “hideous show” when officers arrived at the family home and continued lying after Logan was found in the river.

Her cruel facade even continued in prison where she “never shed a real tear” and only turned on the waterworks when guards came to check on her and she had a captive audience.

On the night she was charged with murdering her son, Williamson binged Married At First Sight Australia in jail and tucked into snacks.

As the trial rumbled on, it emerged she had tried covering her own guilt by blaming the other two defendants.

But all three were convicted of murder and jailed for life in June 2022.

Mulligan was handed a minimum of 15 years, Williamson received a 28 year minimum term, while Cole will serve at least 29 years.

A safeguarding review published in November found there were multiple missed opportunities to save the youngster by various agencies.

It concluded Logan died in a “behind closed doors” killing after he was removed from the child protection register.

The review also found social workers were so consumed with Williamson and Cole and their three-way relationship with Mulligan’s mum that they missed what was happening to Logan.

Forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes tells the show: “It really was very disturbing.

“What is evident is that Logan did not die instantly from his injuries, and he would have been in extreme pain for a long period of time.

“There was a window of opportunity to get help for Logan, and not one of them decided to make that choice. He died in the most horrendous way, probably alone.”
