TfL announced on social media that the station was closed at 9.12am, during rush hour.

Delays caused by the alert led to overcrowding at the station, forcing staff to evacuate the area.

Over the tannoy, the passengers heard: “This is an emergency and all passengers will leave the station immediately.”

A video posted on X shows passengers calmly walking towards the exits as they are escorted by staff.

The headline read: “King’s Cross St Pancras being evacuated due to emergency.”

Other users took to social media to warn passengers of the chaos at the station.

“Kings Cross is having a moment guys, avoid it if you can,” said one passenger.

TfL told The Sun that the evacuation was caused by a false fire alarm.

London firefighters were called to the scene but left after discovering the alarm was false.

After TfL workers managed to control the crowd, the station reopened at 9.29am and Tube services resumed.
