“I was absolutely terrified, I thought, ‘Oh my God, what’s gone wrong?'” Kaye, 61, revealed as she opened up about her “most traumatic 48 hours” on social media this afternoon.

Kaye revealed: “On Friday when I was doing Loose Women, a few minutes before we went on air, my right ear just died. I put the earpiece in and there was no sound and I couldn’t hear anything.”

Kaye added that she managed to get through the show, but when she got home to Glasgow, she still couldn’t hear anything.

She frantically researched online and read that she should go to the emergency room, which she went to the next morning.

After praising the nurses, Kaye revealed she had been sent for an audiogram at a nearby Boots hearing centre.

But she was left red-faced when she found out when audiologist Paula discovered what was causing the hearing loss.

“I mean, I’m embarrassed to say that because, frankly, my head was going into some horrible horrible tumor, I’m very melodramatic.

“Paula pulled out the biggest piece of wax you’ve ever seen.”

Kaye then laughs in relief at her big discovery.

She wrote the post on Instagram: “I had the most traumatic 48 hours. Here’s where it happened…

“And a big thank you to @bootsuk and @nhsggc – Anita and Paula you were truly amazing with this melodramatic 61 year old!”

Fans rushed to the comments section to share their relief that she is fine.

One wrote: “Phew, thank goodness it turned out to be something so simple.”

“I’m so glad you got sorted, it’s such a scary feeling!” said another.

A third chimed in: “Just you Kaye lol. Glad you’re ok now x.”

Kaye has been on Loose Women since 1999.
