Many in the studio were moved to tears after the Change + Check choir, made up of breast cancer survivors, sang their charity single Golden, to raise awareness of life-saving breast cancer screenings.
Lorraine previously said Golden would be dedicated to the memory of former co-star Hannah Hawkins, who sadly passed away from cancer after giving birth to her first child.
On today’s show, Lorraine stood next to Hannah’s widower, Tom, who was holding their baby Rory.
Hannah was a digital producer for ITV and was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time earlier this year while pregnant with Rory.
Mum-of-one Hannah gave birth to baby Rory weeks before she died.
She tragically passed away the day before she celebrated her husband Tom’s birthday.
When the choir ended, tears could be seen rolling down her face and she tried to wipe them away.
She said, “I’m so sorry” as the last bars of the song played.
Then she leaned over to baby Rory and said, “That’s your mom’s song, that’s your mom’s song.”
Choir Change + Check are hoping to reach the top of the charts and Lorraine says she has her sights set on a Christmas number one.
All net profits from downloads of the ‘Golden’ single will go to the breast cancer charity Future Dreams.
Earlier in today’s show, Tom told Lorraine how the couple had been listening to a charity single with newborn Rory before Hannah died.
He also said it was difficult to bond with the child in the first few days of his son’s life, admitting: “He reminds me so much of Hannah.”
However, the stunned dad said the pair are “getting along” and have since been on several “adventures” together.
The grieving husband poured his heart out on social media earlier this year and saluted his “extraordinary” wife and partner of 13 years.
He wrote: “There is no way to honor you or sum you up in one post. I could write an essay on how unfair this is.
“That you’re missing out on seeing Rory grow up, that he won’t be able to feel his mom’s love and that this horrible disease took hold so quickly. But you didn’t see it that way.
“The extraordinary person you were, the phrase you used so many times in the last few weeks – and it moved me every time; ‘I’m so at peace with the life I’ve lived’ is something we can all admire.
“The fact that until the very end you put other people’s feelings first and made us laugh was just your thing.
“Your life can be defined simply by love, friendship and strength, and I will make sure that these are the cornerstones of Rory’s life.
“I want him to know how much everyone loved his mom and how much love you gave.
“As he would say to me in any of my dark moments, ‘remember you are so loved.’
“I want her to know that you’re someone who can walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with lifelong friends and that our social calendar was always so full that we couldn’t physically fit in all the ones we wanted to see.
“I also want him to know the courage you showed every day, facing everything life threw at you with the strength of a warrior, with a smile on your face and a laugh in your eyes.
“This is the legacy you leave our little boy, this and more.”
Lorraine launched the fifth annual Change + Check campaign on her morning TV show earlier this year.
