A huge search was launched after her belongings were discovered on the banks of the River Dee.

Specialist police officers confirmed today that a tragic body was found.

Chief Inspector Stephen Roberts said: “Official identification has yet to be carried out but Lucy’s family have been informed and are being assisted by specialist officers.

“The local coroner has also been informed. My thoughts are with Lucy’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

Officers released CCTV of Lucy’s last movements before she disappeared just days before Christmas.

She could be seen walking past the pub in a high visibility jacket.

Her personal belongings were discovered on the shore near the Severn Trent water treatment plant.

Officers from the North West Underwater Search Team searched the river for the missing Lucy.

They urged citizens not to go near the water because there is a risk of flooding due to the weather.
