Sky Sports apologized for the second time in 24 hours
Three-time winner Michael Van Gerwen was gracious in defeat as Littler, 17, eclipsed the Dutchman – who won his first world title at 24 – by SEVEN YEARS to become the sport’s youngest winner.
But he did slip and swear during a live interview on Sky Sports after the game.
When discussing Littler, Van Gerwen said: “I’m an old curmudgeon compared to him.”
Sky Sports quickly apologized for the comments.
It comes after Van Gerwen also swore live following his semi-final win over Chris Dobey on Thursday.
Littler breaks his silence this morning: I’m going straight to bed when I get home
To his favorite message so far
The world champion said today: “Apparently David Beckham sent me a message. He said: ‘Great, well done’.
Littler on his expected response at home: “I have no idea. Obviously, the cameras will disappear. I will be noticed.
“But it’s literally a drive home and straight to bed.”
What was that moment when you believed you could do it in the final?
The 17-year-old added: “I started to believe in 4-0. But I had to keep my composure. I’m relaxing.
“There is still a long way to go. I knew that as soon as that double came in, I would have all the pictures in the world with the family.”
Littler is already throwing money away
Littler could not hide his reaction when it was announced that he would be picking up a check for a staggering £500,000.
And then in the Ally Pally parking lot, the new champion was filmed generously sharing a large sum of money with his brother.
The Littler family, including his parents Lisa and Anthony, left the arena in north London to get into a taxi.
But just as they jumped in, Luke – wearing a blue hoodie – seemingly handed over a wad of bills for Leon Littler.
The merry clan were unsurprisingly all smiles as they left after the final, no doubt heading to celebrate the teenage sensation’s remarkable achievement.
Hometown Hero Littler
Hundreds of fans cheered Littler on from his former darts academy in St.Helens, Merseyside.
The 17-year-old beat Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in last night’s final to become the tournament’s youngest ever world champion.
About 200 people crowded into the bar of the club to cheer him on together.
There were shouts of “darts coming home” as Littler edged closer to victory.
What Littler did to look at the numbers
Viewership data for the World Darts Championship 2024-25. have taken this sport to new heights, according to Sky Sports.
There’s nothing to say that it’s Luke Littler’s fault, but it’s mostly about the 17-year-old.
The report suggests that viewing figures are up 39 percent.
The Prime Minister sends congratulations
Big praise indeed for world champion Luke Littler from Sir Keir Starmer.
“Enchanting”, describes the performance.
