More than The Nuke
He continued: “I practiced the back stage on tops and tens (D10).
“At 2-0 I started to get nervous, but I told myself ‘just relax’.
“I was pitching for the match, but to finish it and be done with it was special.”
Luke Littler reacts
The 17-year-old looked speechless as the crowd almost drowned out his reaction by chanting his name.
What a feeling that must be! He told Sky Sports: “I can’t believe it, I honestly can’t believe it.
“We both played so well and I said in my interviews that I needed to start fast and that’s what I did.
“But I knew Michael was behind me the whole game. He was right behind me the whole way.
“Everyone dreams of lifting this trophy, but you have to go through a tough field, even before qualifying.
“I can’t believe it.”
Champion
Luke Littler takes the trophy, raises it high in the air before running proudly across the stage to raise it towards his family.
Images that will cover the cover and background tomorrow morning.
Presentation time
Michael van Gerwen looks completely exhausted, as he should rightfully lose the final.
Sir Chris Hoy is part of the launch party, teaming up with Paddy Power’s Bigger 180 campaign.
He’s still taking £100,000, watch out!
