News about Luke Russert
Luke Russert, a former NBC News correspondent, has quit his lucrative job to embark on a three-year trip around the world. He is now publishing a book in which he will tell his story.
News superstar Tim Russert, 37, struggled in his business after the sudden loss of his father in 2008, continuing his father’s profession. After eight years, she began to wonder why she was trying to preserve her father’s legacy and decided to resign her position and travel the world.
Russert’s book, Search Me There, was written over three years and travels across six continents. PEOPLE now have exclusive access to the cover art, which shows Russert watching the scene.
“When I was in my early 30s, I reached a tipping point where I felt empty and dissatisfied. I was curious, “Why?” Russert told people. “So, wanting to experience anything, I went out into the world. The benefit of the trip was that it increased my awareness of my surroundings, including the magnificence of the natural world, the importance of history, and the well-being of the broader human family.
Hard truths about the loss of my father, my relationship with my mother, pain, inadequacy and ignorance were also thrown out, she continues. Although it is my own story, the themes I deal with are timeless. I sincerely hope it helps someone who is feeling a bit lost.
During his travels, Russert wrote in “dozens” of journals, recording not only his introspective and self-reflective thoughts, but also his observations of the places he visited and the people he met.
“Journalists don’t like to shed light on themselves,” admits Russert. “My goal was to provide the background to a nation and how its people, history, and culture influenced my own introspective journey.
Russert noted his newfound freedom to reveal himself and his faith in the book as the burden of his family’s legacy was lifted; his mother is Vanity Fair reporter Maureen Orth.
Russert used the time he had during his trip to properly process his grief over his father’s untimely death, something he claimed he could not have done without the “strength of vulnerability”.
