Frederik managed to greet all his close family members: Polg Foundation

Frederik from Nassau died on March 1 in Paris, according to an emotional statement on the official Polg Foundation website.

Prince Robert, 69, and his wife, Princess Julie of Nassau, described in detail how their beloved son who was born with the Polga Mitochondria disease died surrounded by his love family.

The statement read: “With a very heavy heart my wife and I would like to inform you of the transition of our son, the founder of the Polg Foundation and the creative director, Frederik.

“Last Friday, February 28, on ‘Rare Disease Day’, our beloved son invited us to his room to talk to him for the last time.

“Frederik in turn found the strength and courage to say goodbye to each of us, his brother Alexander, his sister Charlotte, I, his three cousins, Charly, Louis and Donall, his son-in-law, Mansour and finally, his topic Charlotte and Uncle Mark.

“He was already saying everything in his heart to his extraordinary mother, who did not leave the flank in 15 years.”

“After giving each of us to his forgiveness-somewhat, some wise, some instructive true Frederik mode, he collectively left us with a final long-standing family scarf,” Prince Robert added.

“Even in the last moments, his humor and boundless compassion, forced him to leave us with the last laugh … to cheer us all up.”

Frederik was born with the condition, but was not diagnosed until he was 14 years after his symptoms became more noticeable.

Polg disease takes energy from cells in the body and causes more organs to fail.

After the diagnosis, the young royal became an advocate of a person with a disorder, setting a polg fondation to raise awareness and promote research.

In the last days of Frederic, his father revealed that he had largely lost his ability to talk.

But by dying breath, he managed to ask his father’s last question before he said goodbye.

“The last question of Frederik, before his other notes, was:” Daddy, are you proud of me? “Prince Robert said.

What is polg mitochondria disease?

Polg disease is a genetic mitochondrial disorder that robs of energy cells.

This causes a progressive multiple organ (brain, nerves, liver, intestines, muscles, swallowing and eye function, etc.) dysfunction and failure.

It could be compared to a defective battery that never fully full and in constant exhaustion.

Polg affects 300 million people around the world and is difficult to diagnose when children are born.

The patients are usually diagnosed only when the symptoms become more acute.

Symptoms, which can be mild to strong, most commonly include ophthalmoplegia (eye muscle paralysis), muscle weakness, epilepsy and liver failure.

“He could hardly speak for a few days, so the clarity of these words was as surprising as the weight of the moment was deep.

“He needed to convince him that he had contributed to everything he could in his short and beautiful existence and that he could finally move on now.”

‘My superhero’

Frederik’s health has decreased in recent weeks after being hospitalized with pneumonia and suffered another severe infection leaving it that it cannot be relocated.

Prince Robert called his son “My Superhero” and praised his commitment to finding a cure for Polg and his ability to inspire those around him.

“Frederik is the strongest person we know,” the family would talk about young Royal repeatedly.

Despite his condition, he had a “lust for life”, which helped him overcome physical and mental challenges and surrounded himself with a wealth of friends.

Even during his last hours, Frederik has his own alarm for an Italian duoling lesson, his father recalled.

As the family admits that “everything is felt a little colder and darker in his absence,” Frederik’s personal reminders serve as instructions for help in their sadness.

“Get out when the sun shines,” Frederik wrote on the note page on his phone, which is what his family intends to do.

Princess Charlotte noticed her family that the sun was still glowing from her brother’s death.

Beautiful

Below the moving announcement of his death, the family shared some of the Frededer’s favorite pictures.

They include touching black and white photos of themselves with their brothers and sisters and loved dog Mushu.

Other family photos were documented by happy and dear memories of his life.

Frederik enjoys music, film, nature, fossils and gastronomy.

He was born in Aix-En-Provence in southern France and spent his first year in London.

From two years he moved to Geneva in Switzerland, where he later went to international school.

The prince then went to Ecole Eden Elementary School and St. George’s school in Clarens near Montreux.
