M. Sasikumar is an Indian actor, film director, film producer and singer, primarily in the Tamil film industry. He is best known for his role as Paraman in the Tamil period action film Subramaniapuram (2008).

In 1999, M. Sasikumar worked as an assistant director to Bala in the Tamil film Sethu. He also plays an uncredited role in the film. On the set, he met Aamir, who was also one of the assistant directors of the film. He then worked as an assistant director on Aamir’s first two films, Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) and Raam (2005), where he learned the nuances of film directing.
Later, when he assisted Aamir in the Tamil film Paruthi Veeran (2007), he started laying the groundwork for his directorial debut Subramaniapuram and left Paruthi Veeran midway to focus on his projects. His debut film was shot in 85 days in various locations including Madurai, Tirupur and Coimbatore. “Subramaniapuram” was released in 2008 to critical acclaim and commercial success. Sasikumar then directed the Tamil film Easan (2010).

He next starred as Karunakaran Natraj in the Tamil action film Naadodigal (2009). In 2010, he made his Telugu film debut in the action film “Shambo Shiva Shambo”, in which he made a special appearance. In 2011, he starred in the Tamil action thriller Poraali as Ilankumaran. The film depicts a savvy warrior taking on a large, greedy group. Later, it came to be known as Sangharshana in Telugu and was renamed Yaare Koogadali in Kannada.
Sasikumar made his Malayalam film debut in the film Master (2012), in which he played the role of Milan Paul. Directed by Johnny Anthony, the film received critical acclaim and did well at the box office. He subsequently appeared in the Tamil films Kutti Puli (2013), Appa (2016) and Balle Vellaiya Thevaa (2016); all these films did well at the box office. In 2014, Sasikumar played the role of Siva in Brahman, Socrates’ directorial debut. The film tells the story of two friends separated as children but passionate about movies. The film’s box office performance was average. In 2017, he played the eponymous character in the Tamil action drama Kodiveeran; the film received mixed reviews. Some of his other popular Tamil films include Petta (2019), Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019) and Naadodigal 2 (2019).
In 2023, he played the role of Abdul Malik, a Muslim man in the Tamil drama “Ayothi”, who helps a Hindu family from northern India to tide over difficulties. The film was released on March 3, 2023 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. Later, the film was also released on the OTT platform ZEE5.

- Sashikumar revealed in an interview that he entered the Tamil film industry through his uncle Kandasamy, the producer of the film Sethu. Kandasaamy introduced him to Bala, and Sasikumar assisted Bala in directing the film Sethu.
- When asked in an interview why he worked primarily on rural subjects, he responded that he chose these projects because they helped him stay in touch with his roots. He said,
I come from a farmer’s family. Even though I chose to be a filmmaker and then an actor, deep down I still have a farmer at heart. The only way I stay connected to my roots is through my movies. “
