The M4 is closed in both directions after the body has been found on the roadway.

The tragic discovery of human remains between the intersection 20 and 21 saw tonight a hectic highway.

Police Avon and Somerset said the force was invited at 6.40 pm and found human remains when police arrived at the scene.

Investigations are underway to identify the deceased, and the road is expected to remain closed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Roads to join highway joining at these intersections, moving towards the incident, are also closed.

Diversions are in place while drivers face large ranks.

The Avona and Somerseta police are still at the scene together with national traffic officers.

Traffic was seen accumulating because motorists are forced to go to different routes.

National Highways announced that the M4 was closed between the Prince of Prince of Wales and Junction 20 in Almondsbury.

As a result, a series of connections roads are also closed.

The M48 is closed between the M4 and the junction 1 near the North Bridge.

Relationship with M5 to Junction 15 south to M4 Junction 20 West, and a connection to the M5 to Junction 16 north to M4 on the J4 on Junction 20 West also closed.

National motorways were confirmed by the routes of turns that would be in force during the incident that led the police.

In a statement, National Highway said: “Road users caught in prison will be released by turning under the supervision of our traffic officers and police.

“This is a complex operation and will take time due to location and amount of traffic.”

Police Avon and Sorset said in a complete statement: “The M4 is closed in both directions after the body was found on the roadway between the Noda 20 (Almondsbury Interchange) and 21 (Awkley).

“Police invited several drivers who reported something on the road at 6.40pm on Saturday 2nd.

“Tests are underway to identify the deceased and inform the relatives, while the investigation is to determine that the person continues on the highway.

“The road is expected to remain closed in the early hours of Sunday, February 2nd.

“The police want to hear from all who traveled to that part of the M4 has any relevant information or Dashcam shots.
