Teen Mom Alum After nearly nine years of marriage, Mackenzie McKee and husband Josh McKee have called it quits. The former couple married in August 2013, and she has three children with him: Gannon, 10, Jaxie, 8, and Broncs, 5.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the reality star opened up about her split from Josh and her experience with Celebuzz, saying she wanted to share her perspective amid all the messages and stories circulating. According to the Teen Mom alum:
“Sometimes things work out, and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, they just don’t.” I’m finally breaking my silence about me and Josh breaking up. I will always respect him as the father of my children, but it is time to seek my happiness.”

Teen Mom student Mackenzie breaks her silence about divorcing her husband.
In an interview with Celebuzz on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, she discussed her divorce from Josh McKee after nine years of marriage. The actress has always been honest about her turbulent relationship and marriage, and this time was no exception. She said she was “starting over” and thanked the 12 years she spent with her ex-husband.
Mackenzie admitted:
“The old me would write a story about how awful Josh is, what he did and why this marriage is ending.” The new me realizes that we both walk away from this with deep wounds and that our children both love us despite the agony we caused each other. We are all humans on this planet, just trying to survive.”
Although Mackenzie wished Josh “nothing but peace and happiness” for his life and future, she declined to reveal details about the divorce, but said she had decided to leave the marriage. She stated:
“Us ladies don’t go until we’re ready until we wake up and realize the coffee doesn’t smell good and something’s wrong.” That was my wedding. But my marriage is all I have known since I was a child.
Teen Mom fans have followed Mackenzie and Josh’s journey and rocky relationship over the years, starting with 2012’s episode 16 & Pregnant and continuing with Teen Mom Season 3 and Teen Mom OG.
Since getting married in 2013, the former couple has gone through various ups and downs, breaking up and reconciling multiple times. However, issues between the pair worsened when she felt Josh was not there for her after her mother died in May 2020. She also accused him of cheating on her with her cousin while she was grieving on social media. Mackenzie previously characterized the former couple’s marriage as “open” and admitted she had been in a relationship for six months.
In an interview with Celebuzz, the actress expressed her relief at the split, saying:
“I wasn’t apologetic about everything, I wasn’t angry and I wasn’t depressed.” As a woman who now recognizes her own worth, I have regained my authority. And in the end I was so tired that I was done, and everything that had hurt me in the previous five years was gone. “I don’t care anymore.”
The Teen Mom couple struggled with various parenting dilemmas, which were captured on Teen Mom OG Season 9, which aired in late 2021. Despite being a single mom, Mackenzie said she doesn’t regret her decision to leave her marriage because she’s suffered enough .
