Magic Johnson is feeling grateful on his wedding anniversary.
On Saturday, September 14, the Los Angeles Laker legend, 65, celebrated 33 years of marriage with his wife Cookie Johnson, sharing a sentimental video on X (formerly Twitter). Magic and Cookie, also 65, married in 1991 in Lansing, Michigan.
33 years ago I made the best decision in my life by marrying the beautiful Cookie Johnson, Magic wrote with the video.
“I thank God every day for blessing me with my wife, best friend, and caring mother to our amazing children, all rolled into one!” he continued. “I am beyond grateful for your golden heart, unwavering love for our family, and irreplaceable presence in this world.”

“Happy anniversary baby!” the caption concluded. The video featured footage of the couple together throughout their relationship. Part of the nostalgic montage were pictures and clips from wedding days, vacations and dance nights.
Magic and Cookie first met at a college party at Michigan State University in the late 1970s. A mutual friend introduced them to each other and at the end of the night, Magic found out that Cookie’s roommate wanted to date him. Instead, Cookie and Magic became a couple.
The couple dated on and off for more than a decade before tying the knot. They have a son EJ and a daughter Elisa together. Cookie is also stepmother to Andre, Magic’s child with ex Melissa Mitchell.
