Mahant Raju Das received his BA, MA and LLB degrees from KS Saket PG College, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. When he was a student, he was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (RSS student wing).

While growing up, he became a member of the Bajrang Dal. Thereafter, he joined the ABVP, the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and later contested the Saket Mahavidyalaya students’ union elections at Awadh University. He became involved in politics in the early 2000s and attended every community event he was invited to. Raju Das reached Ayodhya at a very young age, performed ascetic practices and became a disciple of Sant Ram Das. Ahead of the 2017 Uttar Pradesh municipal elections, Raju Das was nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party as one of the 12 possible mayoral candidates for Ayodhya.

- When Das was four and a half years old, his parents left him and he lived in the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya.
