Ganpat Gaikwad and Mahesh Gaikwad feud
On February 2, 2024, Ganpat Gaikwad fired six shots at Mahesh Gaikwad at the Senior Inspectorate of Hill Line police station. The incident took place due to the ongoing land dispute between the Ganpat Gaikwad and Jadhav families. According to supporters of Mahesh Gaikwad, Mahesh went to the police station to resolve a dispute; however, Ganpat shot him because he considered Mahesh a political rival.
According to Ganpat, he shot Mahesh to protect his son from the police and does not regret his actions. The feud between Ganpat Gaikwad and Mahesh Gaikwad has been going on for a long time. In August 2023, they clashed over delays in the Kayan (East) development project. The two leaders got into a heated argument at the KDMC district office in Kalyan after they called for a public debate on who was behind stopping the development work. Before Mahesh Gaikwad could reach the debate venue, the police stopped him and took control of the situation.

FIR registered for extortion
In 2019, Kolsewadi police registered an FIR against Mahesh Gaikwad for allegedly assaulting a private contractor who was installing cables for a private telecom company and trying to extort Rs 1 lakh from him. Later, Mahesh refuted all the allegations and claimed that Ganpat Gaikwad exerted political pressure on the police to register an FIR against him. Ganpat Gaikwad, however, denied the charges against him, claiming that Mahesh Gaikwad was trying to extract money from private contractors and filed multiple criminal charges against him besides stopping the cable installation work.
