Mahimananda Mishra, son of late Rabindra Nath Mishra, was born on Thursday, May 7, 1953 (69 years old in 2022). An alumnus of Christ College, Cuttack, he had leadership qualities since his college days. Mishra served as the president of the Students’ Union in 1971-72 and as the president of the Students’ Union of MS Law College, Odisha in 1974-75.

Profession
After completing his postgraduate studies from the University of Orissa, Mishra started working in stevedoring in 1978 and for the next three decades he was in charge of cargo operations at Paradip Port.
With total dedication and hard work, he built OSL Group into one of the largest businesses on the East Coast of India. OSL Group is a stevedoring and cargo handling company handling over 35 million tonnes of cargo across different industries.

Charged with murder
In November 2016, Mishra was charged with conspiracy to murder Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited executive Mahendra Swain. On October 26, 2016, Mahendra was shot dead while on his way to Paradeep’s office. Although the Odisha High Court granted him bail in May 2017, the Supreme Court quashed the High Court order in September 2018 and detained him. In November 2019, the High Court finally granted him bail.
Bribery Case
On August 4, 2022, CBI officials searched Mishra’s residence and office in connection with a probe into a bribe of Rs 2.5 crore that was allegedly paid by a contractor to a senior official of the Paradip Port Authority.

- The Best Startup Award was presented by the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik.
- The Business Leader Award 2010 was presented by the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha for his outstanding achievement in developing Gopalpur Port into a world class port.

The OSL Group has a wide range of business interests which include Oil and Gas Exploration and Allied Services, Provision of Personnel Services in various Large Plants, FTWZs, Oil Depots and Luxury Retail.
