Gagandeep Bakshi or GD Bakshi is a retired Indian Army officer. He served in the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. For his outstanding services in the Indian Army, he was awarded several medals.
Wiki/Biography
Bakshi was born in 1950 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India (age 70 in 2020). He has dreamed of joining the Indian Army since he was a child. His brother, Captain Raman Bakshi, was the first martyr in the 1965 Indo-Pak war at the age of 23. In memory of his brother, a street in Jabalpur was named ‘Raman Bakshi Marg’. He completed his basic education from St. Aloysius High School, Jabalpur. For higher education, he joined the National Defense Academy and the Indian Military Academy where he completed his studies.

The names of his family members are unknown. The only information available is about his brother Raman Bakshi, who was killed in the 1965 Indo-Pak war.
military career
He served in the Indian Army in 1971 and played an important role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. He also played a key role in the 1984 crackdown on terror in Punjab. During the 1999 Kargil War, he commanded the battalion and led successful operations against Pakistan.
Apart from this, Bakshi also commanded the Romeo Force to combat terrorist activities in the Rajouri-Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir and successfully pacified the area. He twice served as Director General of Military Operations and was the first Chief of Army Staff (IW), Northern Command (India), responsible for Information Warfare and Psychological Warfare.

- In 2016, when he gave a speech on national security at IIT Madras, a student named Abhinav Surya labeled his speech as spreading hate. Label. Abhinav Surya wrote in a letter to the department: “I still cannot digest the fact that the college gave a platform to such hateful speech that incited students to violence. The speech was full of simmering hostility, inhumanity and glorification of brutality.”
- He repeatedly made fun of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters.
- In July 2020, he used profanity during a live debate on a news channel. While appearing as one of the panelists in a live debate on Republic TV, he called the panelists “motors”****. Mr Bakshi was heavily criticized for using such profane language.
