Malti Devi (1943 – 2003) was an Indian woman. She is the wife of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. Her only son Akhilesh Yadav is a highly acclaimed Indian politician. In 2003, she died of a heart attack.

Malti Devi was fourteen years old when she got married. The couple married in 1957; however, their family held a wedding ceremony for him in 1962. According to some media sources, it was at his wedding ceremony. Mulayam Singh took part in a procession of five buffalo carts to marry Malti Devi. He traveled about 20-22 kilometers from Safai to Malti’s home in Raipur, Uttar Pradesh. When the wedding procession arrived at Malti Devi’s house, all the guests on the groom’s side were ceremoniously welcomed by members of the Malti family and wore gold chains. In 1973, Malti Devi gave birth to Indian politician Akhilesh Yadav. Shortly after giving birth, she entered a vegetative state due to medical complications.

Facts/Trivia
- After Malti Devi’s death on May 27, 2003, Mulayam Singh Yadav married Sadhna Gupta. Mulayam and Sadhna were reportedly in a relationship before Malti Devi’s death. Sadna gave birth to a son from her first marriage, and Mulayam adopted him. Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sadhna got married in 2003 after the death of Malti Devi; however, Mulayam officially announced his marriage to Sadhna in 2007, when he submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court of India in a disproportionate assets case Book. In the affidavit, he also mentioned the name of his son Prateek Yadav.
- In 2012, when Akhilesh Yadav took office as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, he invited his uncle Maharaj Singh Yadav to attend his oath-taking ceremony. Maharaj Singh reportedly received a warm welcome from Mulayam Singh Yadav, who arranged for Maharaj Singh Yadav Stayed at a luxury hotel.
- Later, the Uttar Pradesh government started a cricket tournament called “Late Malti Devi Night Cricket Tournament” in the name of Malti Devi.
