Mamie Laverock's Mom Says She Has 'Survived Her Injuries' But 'Her Road to Recovery Will be Long'

Mamie Laverock’s mother shares insight into the actress’ recovery.

The mum of 19-year-old Nicole Rockmann shared an update on her daughter, who fell five stories from a hospital balcony last month, in a post shared on Laverock’s official Facebook page on Wednesday, June 26.

“Thank you for your healing messages for Mamie,” the post began. “Mamie survived her injuries, but her road to recovery will be long. I will soon set up a mailbox for all your congratulations and good wishes.”

“Warm, Nicole,” she concluded the message.

According to a Facebook post previously posted on Laverock’s page on Friday, June 7, When the heart calls star was still recovering in hospital after the fall on May 26, which left her in critical condition.

The post, which was untitled, included a photo of Laverock’s arm attached to an IV line and holding a teddy bear. The picture also shows Laverock’s hospital bed and gown.

On May 30, a family spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE that Laverock had been released from surgery.

Sharing an update on her daughter’s condition that same day, Rockmann said: Los Angeles Times that her Laverock “opened his eyes” for the first time since the fall.

“Let’s just hope this is a turnaround and she gets through this now,” she said. “I couldn’t be happier that people reached out and cared. The story will be told.”

Rockmann also claimed that her daughter’s fall was not intentional and blamed the hospital where the fall occurred – St. Paul in Vancouver. Laverock fell while they were allegedly taking her around the health facility.

“This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability,” Rockmann said, stressing that the fall was not “intentional” or a suicide attempt. “All we care about is that Mamie can recover and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It’s amazing that she’s with us,” she added.

A spokesman for Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul’s Hopsital, told PEOPLE that it does not comment on patient-related matters due to its privacy and confidentiality policy. However, a representative said: “In cases involving patient safety, an internal critical review of the incident is carried out to determine exactly what happened and make recommendations for improved patient safety.”

“Our hearts go out to the patient, the family and everyone affected by this event and we wish them a full recovery,” the spokesperson added.

On May 11, Laverock was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital by her mom for a “medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family. She was then taken to a Vancouver hospital, where she was “escorted from a secure section of the hospital and taken to the balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” according to a May 28 update.

“She suffered life-threatening injuries, underwent multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on ventilators,” Rockmann and her husband, Rob, wrote on the campaign page. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this extremely difficult time.”
