Man, 65, ‘pooed himself to death’ after suffering agonising constipation for 10 days, doctor claims

A PENSIONER has reportedly “puke to death” after suffering from constipation for more than a week.

A 65-year-old man arrived at the emergency room with chest pains, nausea and a strong need to go to the toilet.

But according to Dr. Rawdy Reales Rois, he was unable to defecate for between seven and ten days.

Electrocardiogram results returned normal, but the patient’s heart rate was rapid and he appeared sweaty.

As he had a history of heart problems, the doctor said it was not advisable to give him the rectal enema he wanted.

In rare cases, stool cleaners can cause life-threatening side effects on the kidneys and heart.

Instead, he encouraged the man to take medication to help relieve his constipation – but it didn’t have the desired effect.

The doctor in Colombia increased the dose and asked the OAP to get out of bed and try to move around.

He then left the patient and planned to return in a few hours to check on his progress.

However, during that time the man was so persistent about the enema that another doctor eventually performed the procedure.

dr. Reales, who graduated from the Cooperative University of Colombia 10 years ago and is a published author, was subsequently informed that the patient had suffered a fatal heart attack, it said.

According to the health expert, who has 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 6.4 million on TikTok, the man went into cardiac arrest after passing feces so quickly that it stimulated the vagus nerve and caused a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Despite 30 minutes of resuscitation efforts, the OAP died.

dr. Philippa Kaye, an NHS GP not involved in the case, said severe constipation and repeated straining can lead to problems such as rectal prolapse – when the rectum slips down inside the anus.

“This could result in intestinal obstruction, which is life-threatening and has been linked to cardiovascular disease and stroke,” she said.

“Having a bowel movement stimulates the vagus nerve, so technically it can lower your blood pressure.”

A sudden decrease is potentially dangerous because it could mean that the heart, brain or other organs are not getting enough blood flow.

It puts patients at increased risk of heart attack and stroke, according to the National Institutes of Health.
