If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to spend the night alone in a haunted motel — home to hundreds of clowns — one brave soul knows the answer.
In a video shared on Instagram, user Khail Anonymous shares his experience staying overnight at the Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada.
“Why did I go ALONE??” he writes Reel, which opens with a shot of a hotel room door — emblazoned with a colorful illustration of what appears to be Pennywise, the toothy clown made famous in the Stephen King film It.
“I’ve rented a room at a haunted clown motel and I have an extra surprise,” he says in a voiceover.
Inside the room, another even larger picture of Pennywise is displayed on the wall, along with framed portraits of other clowns.

An additional surprise, he then says, is a paranormal activity meter.
“The motel lets you rent an EMF reader so you can go ghost hunting,” he says in the video. “So I’ll wait until it gets dark and then I’ll do it.”

The video also shows what is next to the motel — a cemetery with rows of tombstones.
“There’s also a cemetery next door. I forgot to mention that, oops,” he says in the video.
When night falls, he gives followers a look at the EMF reader. a meter that measures electromagnetic fields and is often used to “hunt” ghosts.
“Okay, let’s do it,” he says as he turns on the EMF reader.
“I keep looking back, like someone’s watching me. This is none of my business – I hope you don’t like this.” [because] this is a one-time thing, for sure,” he tells followers.
In the voiceover, he says he spent “about half an hour” using an EMF reader, which produced “a few high readings” but “mostly just apologized to the spirits.”

He then left the camera on overnight, “so we could see if anything happens,” before choosing between the two beds in the room — “the one closest to the door or the bed closest to Pennywise,” he says, pointing towards the huge clown mural on the wall.
He ended up choosing the bed closest to Pennywise.
“Good night, giant skeleton head,” he says to the large prop on the bed next to him before lying down.

Nothing interesting was caught on camera during the night, he says, and he apparently slept well, spending the next morning checking out the hotel’s “collection of clown stuff”, which was both “creepy and not – mostly creepy”.
“But I left knowing that I was just done with the clown stuff — almost,” he adds at the end of the video, as the screen reads “to be continued.”
