Man Utd vs Coventry and Man City vs Chelsea FA Cup semi-final kick-off times moved after police request

After the intervention of the Metropolitan Police, the start time of the FA Cup semi-final was announced.

The match between Manchester United and Coventry has been postponed to Sunday, April 21 at 3:30 p.m.

This is because the Metropolitan Police considered it to be a high-risk event.

The FA had originally requested a 4pm kick-off, but it was pushed back by 30 minutes after police raised public order concerns.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s match against Chelsea kicks off at 5.15pm on Saturday 20 April.

According to the Daily Mail, the decision is expected to be confirmed at a local Security Advisory Group meeting later on Friday.

Historically, governing bodies and broadcasters have been frustrated by disagreements over match kick-off times between the Met and the FA.

Later kick-off times tend to attract larger audiences and, for ITV and Sky Sports, more advertising revenue.

Therefore, in recent years it has become the norm for important matches, such as the semi-finals of the FA Cup, to be scheduled for the evening.

Many of the matches involving Man Utd tend to be considered “high risk”, which is starting to frustrate the EFL and FA, according to sources.
