Mandy Moore Welcomes New Dog Who Was Found ‘Wandering the Streets’: ‘He Was Looking for Us’

Mandy Moore’s family just got a little bigger!

The Dr. death The 39-year-old actress announced on Instagram that she and husband Taylor Goldsmith welcomed a new dog named Marshmallow to their crew.

On Saturday, Moore posted an adorable photo of the blonde pup, sharing that Marshmallow “was found by their nanny wandering the streets for a few days” miles away from their home.

“He is about 6-7 months old, unchipped, not fixed (but scheduled for next week) and the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our group,” Moore wrote.

“We weren’t looking for another dog, but he was looking for us, and the fact that he bears an uncanny resemblance to our dear Joni made it impossible to ignore.”

The pooch, who joins the family more than three years after the death of their dog Joni, is also getting to know Moore’s other pets.

“The cats aren’t confused and Jackson (our 14 year old rescue mutt) is small too 🤷‍♀️ but Marshmallow is slowly winning them over,” she wrote.

She added of her 2-year-old son August “Gus” Harrison’s reaction, “When we showed Gus his picture and asked him his name, he shouted ‘Marshmallow!’ Hands in the air. Done and done.”

Moore and Goldsmith, 38, also have a son together, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett, who they welcomed in October 2022.

“Can’t wait for all the adventures, mister,” she wrote of the new pup, along with the hashtag “#adoptdontshop.”

Several celebrity friends have commented in support of the new family member, including Rachel Bilson, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and animal media brand The Dodo. “I love him!!!! ❤️,” Bilson wrote about the pooch.

The dog joins the Moore-Goldsmith family not long after the “pleasant” holiday season, which it is This is us star opened up to PEOPLE around December. Sharing her Christmas plans, Moore then explained how the foursome will be enjoying some quality time together.

“I’m excited for these next few weeks just to be home and cozy and enjoy this time of year,” she said.

“[Gus] he loves being a big brother and he loves the holidays,” Moore said. “He’s aware of it now in a way that he wasn’t until this year, like last year, he’s just starting to understand Christmas trees, but now that he understands the concept of Santa Claus and everything that’s much more exciting.”

Moore also said she’s looking forward to establishing traditions as the kids get older, adding that they’ll “finally start to take root in terms of what we want the holidays to be.”
