- In 2012, Manini went on a vacation to Jammu and Kashmir with her parents and some family friends. They lived near the BSF camp where they could easily hear the sound of bullets and that’s when they came to know that there was a shooting range where people could pick up guns and practice shooting at targets. A few days later, she was fascinated when she saw her father on their balcony shooting balloons with an air gun he bought from a local market. Manini’s father shot 8 out of 10 balloons and she shot 10 out of 10 balloons. Seeing her passion for the sport, Manini’s father took her to the shooting range the next day. The range coach asked Manini to shoot, and she hit the perfect target with a score of 10.9 points. Her professional photography journey began in 2014.
- Manini’s grandmother Usha Devi Kaushik was her biggest influence and supporter as she herself was a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC); however; due to life In a strict family, she was unable to pursue her interests.
- A week after starting shooting training, she won her first medal at the open state championships. Manini borrowed shooting equipment from that competition because she didn’t have her own.
- She enjoys dancing Bharatanatyam and often participates in dance competitions organized by schools and colleges.

- Her daily routine is to get up at 3 a.m. and practice for 4 hours straight.
- In 2018, Manini was felicitated by the University Vice-Chancellor Professor GK Prabhu for his achievements in the sport. Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) also provided her with a 100% scholarship for the entire duration of her studies in the law course at the university.
