In 2006, Manjit was an elementary school teacher at North Ridge Elementary School. On October 18, 2006, Manjit Panghali disappeared after attending a prenatal yoga class in Surrey. Twenty-six hours after she disappeared, her husband, Mukhtiar Panghali, reported her disappearance to Canadian police. Five days later, on October 23, Manjit Pangali’s burned body was found on the Delta Harbor Causeway in South Delta, British Columbia, Canada.

Mukhtiar Panghali was convicted in November 2010 of murdering Manjit Panghali. He was charged with second-degree murder. In addition, he was convicted of interfering with human remains. In February 2011, he was sentenced by the Supreme Court of British Columbia to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 15 years. Shortly after the verdict, Crown prosecutor Dennis Murray recounted the killing:

In her book, Manjit recounts that she relied on alcohol and drugs to stay high. she wrote,

Manjit Panghali wrote about her married life in one of her diaries. she wrote,
