In the nation’s highest court: On the cusp of change, award-winning reporter and Supreme Court attorney Marcia Coyle will speak about the Seminar at Steamboat’s 15th Anniversary Nonpartisan Politics Debate Season.
On Monday, August 7 at 5:30 pm, Coyle will hold a discussion at Strings Pavilion. At 4:45 p.m. the distribution of free tickets begins and the opening of the doors.
The National Law Journal, a national weekly covering law and litigation, employs Coyle as its chief Washington correspondent. She is a journalist and attorney who has covered the United States Supreme Court for 28 years. She is a frequent contributor to the Supreme Court analysis for PBS’s The NewsHour. She wrote “The Roberts Court: The Fight for the Constitution.”
Coyle spent more than ten years reporting on federal, state and local politics for newspapers in Pennsylvania before joining The National Law Journal. She has written for publications like Vogue, Ms., and The New York Times Book Review on the Supreme Court and other legal topics. She also contributed to “A Year in the Life of the United States Supreme Court.”
Hood College awarded Coyle a bachelor’s degree; Northwestern University awarded him a master’s degree in journalism; and the University of Baltimore School of Law awarded him a law degree.
His reporting has won numerous national journalism awards, including the American Judicial Society’s Toni House Journalism Award for a career that included reporting on the nation’s courts and justice system, the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award for Reporting from Outstanding Research and the George Polk Award for legal reporting.
On Monday, August 21 at 8:00 pm on 88.5 FM, KUNC Public Radio will broadcast an edited one-hour version of Coyle’s seminar lecture. SteamboatToday.com will also have access to the stream.
