Margot Robbie Is Making a Sims Movie After Producing Record-Breaking Barbie (Reports)

After success BarbieMargot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr’s production company LuckyChap are now teaming up with Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon to announce a film adaptation of the beloved game, according to Diversity and The Hollywood Reporter.

Loki Director Kate Herron is attached to work on the project and will also write the script alongside Briony Redman, according to outlets. This is not the only video game project Herron is working on, he will also direct an episode in the upcoming second season The last of us.

After the film was released, Robbie said she knew it would be a hit. The 33-year-old said collider“I think my pitch at the greenlight meeting was that studios are so far ahead when they’re brave enough to pair a big idea with a visionary director.”

One example she gave in “naming everything that was amazing and made tons of money for studies over the years” was “dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg.”

“And I said, ‘And now you have Barbie and Greta Gerwig,'” Robbie said. “And I think I told them they were going to make a billion dollars, which I may have exaggerated, but we had to make a movie, okay?!”
