Mari Kasuya was born in Yokohama, Japan in 1994 (age 26 in 2020) as “Mari Kaitlin Kasuya”.
She graduated from Walton High School in Georgia. She attended the University of Virginia, where she participated in the Semester at Sea program sailing in the spring of 2016.
She received her bachelor’s degree in digital broadcast journalism and theater from the University of Georgia. She studied acting with Barbara Beneville at Just Breathe Acting in Marietta. She trained in hip-hop and dance at Rhythm Dance Center in Marietta. She also studied singing in high school.
