Mariska Hargitay Talks Taylor Swift and ‘Perfect’ Cat ‘Karma’: ‘There Was No Other Name for This Cat’

Mariska Hargitay shares more about how she named her cat after Taylor Swift’s song “Karma”.

On Thursday, the 60-year-old actress appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon shared her thoughts on Swift naming her cat after Hargitay Law and Order: Special Victims Unit character, Olivia Benson.

“It was such a sweet honor and I think she loved it ALL and I think she loved Grey’s Anatomy,” Hargitay told host Fallon, 49. “So she named one after me and one after Ellen Pompeo.”

“But then, here’s what else is cool. Then you got a new addition to the family, you got a cat,” Fallon continued. “You have a Siamese cat and a cat’s name [is] Karma,” he added while holding a photo of the pet.

“There was no other name for this cat,” Hargitay revealed after the crowd laughed and cheered. “And she is such karma. It’s so perfect and aptly named and just right.”

“You posted it, and then Taylor responded and said, ‘Are you serious?!!!! Nothing ever came full circle like that. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!” Fallon then explained.

“It was a thrill,” Hargitay replied.

Back in November, Hagitay revealed that she got a new cat named Karma.

“Karma is a Cat @taylorswift Meet Karma. My cat.🐱 #MeAndKarmaVibeLikeThat #AndIKeepMySideOfMyPawClean #KarmaIsACat,” her caption read at the time, referencing the song’s lyrics.

Soon after, Swift added a comment to the post, expressing her delight at the cat’s name.

“Are you serious?!!!! Nothing has ever been more complete ⭕️ LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! 😻”, wrote the singer.

Meanwhile, ahead of Thursday’s episode Tonight’s show, Hargitay revealed from backstage that the episode was “really one of her favorites” thanks to the guest cast and performances.

The mother of three also appeared alongside Fallon in an Instagram video titled “When you hear ‘DUN DUN’.”

In the clip, Fallon turned and showed a surprised expression on his face, while Haritay turned to the camera and winked. “@therealmariskahargitay is here tonight…” read the caption below the post. “*DUN DUN* @nbclawandorder #FallonTonight.”
