The premier of Western Australia, Mark McGowan, will resign by the end of the week after becoming “exhausted,” leading to a leadership change. At a press conference on Monday afternoon, McGowan shockingly revealed the news while being supported by colleagues.
He referred to his nearly 30-year service to the people of Western Australia as an honour and a privilege. “I could never have predicted how much my profession would amount to, by a long shot. I’ve been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity thanks to WA, he claimed.
According to McGowan, the work was “relentless” and “all-consuming every single day.” The “energy or drive to continue” had left him, he claimed. “I’m really, really exhausted, to tell you the truth. In reality, I’m worn out,” he admitted.

However, Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds predicted that WA politics will change. “It will move away from the politics of the individual, the cult of the personality, which has really sucked the life out of the political discussion in WA because it has been all about one man,” she said.
