Mark Richt was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 18, 1960 to Helen and Lou Richt. Together they had five children, Mark being the second eldest. Mark’s father was a mold maker for Western Electric. Katharyn Francis of Tallahassee, Florida is his wife. Together they have four wonderful children.

Mark Richt has been a footballer for 14 years. He played for the University of Miami from 1978 to 1982. Howard Schnellenberger, the national champion at the time, was the team’s coach at the time. He was the reserve quarterback for Jim Kelly, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
