Marvel actor Eka Darville’s heartbreak as 10-year-old son dies after battling rare brain tumour

MARVEL actor Eka Darville is mourning the death of his 10-year-old son, who tragically died after a battle with cancer.

The actor, known for his roles in Jessica Jones and Power Rangers, announced earlier this year that Mana, 10, had been diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumor.

The Planet of the Apes star put his career on hold as the family moved to the US, where Mana underwent multiple treatments.

Darville’s mum Malaika announced the boy’s death in a heartbreaking video posted on the GoFundMe page.

She said: “I still wanted to come together in this prayer because he will still always be with us and he is still with us.

“You can imagine how much grief and sorrow Eka, Lila and Lila’s parents, his grandparents, me, his little brothers carry.

“But at the same time, there’s a lot of joy. There’s a lot of peace.

“There’s a lot of silence in the house after such a long struggle 463 days since the whole ordeal started. And now he’s free. Now he’s dancing in the light.

“We all see it, feel it, and I know that many of you, like me, have loved Mana forever.

“Mana managed to touch more hearts than most of them in their entire lives.

“And he will continue to touch hearts with his story, with courage and strength and wisdom that reaches the highest frequencies of the ascended masters, the angelic kingdoms, the angels, the light help that guides man to pour our love into his soul.”

The ordeal began last year when the actor’s son collapsed on the beach.

The boy had constant seizures and was rushed to hospital in January when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

During Mana’s battle with the disease, the actor shared updates and earlier this month revealed that Mana is still fighting.

He said: “Three grueling operations, 2 continents, countless therapies and Mana’s unwavering will… 8 months later he is still with us. He is still fighting.

“We’ve been on an absolute odyssey these past six months with highs and lows that have stretched our capacity to ‘human’ beyond any limit we thought we had.

“We witnessed real-life miracles as Mana went from not being able to walk to ninja flipping off the edge of the bed, rock climbing, swimming and not just getting out of a wheelchair, but running unaided!

“The amazing news is that after months of stability and miraculous progress in his physical rehabilitation, the tumor is back and growing faster than ever.

“In the face of this latest challenge, we are unwavering in our commitment to his full recovery and will accept nothing less.”
