Mary Lou Retton is back from the hospital!

In an update on her mother’s condition posted on Instagram Monday, Retton’s daughter McKenna Kelley said the former Olympic gymnast had been released from a hospital in Texas after weeks of battling a rare form of pneumonia.

“Mommy is HOME and recovering,” wrote Kelley, 26. “We still have a long road to recovery, but baby steps.”

She continued: “We are overwhelmed by everyone’s love and support. Gratitude does not scratch the surface of our hearts’ holdings.”

Almost two weeks ago, Kelley first shared the news that her 55-year-old mother was hospitalized and “fighting for her life.”

“My amazing mum, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life,” she wrote in a message on the Spotfund fundraising page. “She can’t breathe on her own. She’s been in intensive care for over a week now. Out of respect for her and her privacy, I won’t reveal all the details. But I will reveal that she’s uninsured.”

In a statement to PEOPLE at the time, Shayla Kelley Schrepfer, Retton’s oldest daughter, said the family’s “number one concern is our mom’s well-being.”

“That being said, being there for her is our first priority,” Schrepfer, 28, told PEOPLE.

As fans flocked to the fundraising page – which had raised more than $459,000 by Monday – McKenna and her sister gave updates on their mum’s condition, which improved and then suffered a “frightening decline”.
