Mary was well-known as a right-wing activist, who won a case in the Supreme Court in 1986 against the inheritance laws prevailing in the Malabar Nasrani (Saint Thomas Christians) Syrian community in Kerala.
Mary was also the founder and principal of Pallikoodam (Corpus Christi High School) in Kalathilpady (a suburb of Kottayam City) in the state of Kerala. In an interview with the Times of India, she admitted that she has a complicated relationship with her elder brother George Isaac.
