On Christmas Eve, Mathew Knowles paid tribute to his daughters Beyoncé and Solange on Instagram with a touching family photo.
On Sunday, Knowles shared a photo of his daughters when they were young and dressed up as they decorated the tree. “At that age, something as simple as putting ornaments on a tree can seem like the biggest thing in the world,” he wrote in the caption. “And it was good for both of us!”

Knowles recalled seeing his daughters at the time on Christmas Day having fun celebrating the season and “obviously listening to their favorite music.”
“What I love most about this moment is the pure love, determination and confidence that Beyoncé has in her eyes as she looks at Solange,” he went on to write.
“It’s almost as if Solange was going to put the ornament on a higher part of the tree than she was used to, or maybe it was a very special ornament for her. And, it’s like Beyoncé is looking at her and saying ‘go ahead’. Solange has been pursuing it in her life ever since and has never stopped.”

Knowles concluded his post by wishing his Instagram followers a happy holiday. “I hope that this season you are surrounded by those who love, appreciate and believe in you. And if not, I hope you see enough value in yourself to love, appreciate and believe in who you are and what you are capable of achieving in life.”
Mathew Knowles and his now ex-wife Tina Knowles-Lawson are parents to Beyoncé and Solange and grandparents to their grandchildren. The former couple have played a key role in Beyoncé’s career since the superstar worked with Destiny’s Child. In a speech at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Beyoncé paid tribute to her parents: “I would like to thank my parents, my father, my mother, for loving me and pushing me.”

Knowles was also Beyoncé’s manager until 2011. “I’m grateful for everything he taught me,” the star said in a statement about the decision at the time. “I grew up watching both him and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs, and I will continue to follow in their footsteps.”

“He’s my father for life, and I love my father very much,” she went on to say of Knowles. “I’m grateful for everything he taught me.”
The Christmas Eve picture isn’t the first time Knowles has shared a glimpse of how he’s raised his daughters via social media. Last April, he posted an archive photo of them when they were also children on Instagram, writing: “I believe that our young people are often more intuitive than adults in many areas. Those early passions that many children possess should be nurtured and supported.
“When Beyoncé and Solange showed an interest in music at a very young age,” he continued, “[Tina Knowles-Lawson] and I (already a corporate professional and entrepreneur) did not try to diminish their passions. On the contrary, we encouraged, guided and supported them.”
