Matt Edmondson was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England on December 27, 1985. Lesley is his mother’s name, while his father’s name has not been revealed. Although there is no additional information about Matt’s mother, he announced on Twitter in 2020 that his father got engaged when he was 22 years old. Furthermore, his father was an alcoholic with bipolar disorder. Since he was little Matt’s father had a drinking problem, and as a result, they fought and stopped communicating as he grew up. However, as Matt matured, they patched things up and Matt was bringing his father to AA meetings for months before his death.
Additionally, after his father’s death, Edmondson composed a song about him that he claimed came out of him in about 15 minutes and was a real therapeutic experience. “Your Car” is a song about the last time Matt saw his father, who was sitting in his car outside Matt’s house. Matt said that because of the way his father died, he was unable to adequately grieve or forgive him.

Kate Arnell, Matt Edmondson’s sister, is also a television presenter, environmental blogger, YouTuber and writer. Kate was born in 1983 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England and is best known for her work on MTV and CBBC. Matt’s sister worked as a radio presenter for Pure FM and the student radio station at the University of Portsmouth, where she studied media studies.
She was also selected after a nationwide search to host The Loaded Hour on Freeview channel TMF in 2006, sponsored by Loaded magazine. Kate has now become the host of TMF Live and TMF Kicks, as well as Totally Boyband Live on sister channels MTV and Q the Music. Arnell appeared alongside JK and Joel on CBBC’s Hider in the House in 2008. They also presented the BBC News show Teen 24.
