While some fans are still reeling from the end of Stranger Things Season 4 and others are busy speculating about Stranger Things 5, one of the show’s most famous characters wants to return to the exciting world of the show. The popular Netflix thriller, which is also arguably Netflix’s most successful project to date, has a penchant for causing deep pain by killing off fan favorites like Bob Sean Astin and Eddie Munson Quinn.
Before Stranger Things Season 5, the show also axed Dr. Martin Brenner (played by Matt Modine), one of the least likeable characters. Despite the Doctor’s untimely death in a fight with Vecna, star Matt Modine believes his character can return to the popular program’s final season. Stranger Things Season 5 is scheduled to begin filming in May 2023, which means most of the script has already been written. But there is still time to bring Dr. Martin Brenner back, if only in appearance.

What did Matt Modine have to say about his return in Stranger Things 5?
In a recent interview with the Radio Times, Matt Modine revealed that he’s eager to return to his former role in the popular Netflix drama, even if it’s not in the same form he previously portrayed it. His character was removed after the end of the previous season. Modine, on the other hand, believes that his painting can somehow be resurrected. Modine stated in the interview:
“I wish I knew because I love Millie Bobby Brown, I do [creators] duffer brothers, i love it too [director] Shawn Levy, and it was such a pleasure to work with every day… I hope there is an opportunity to resurrect Dr. Brenner and bring him into Season 5 because it would be fantastic to be a part of the final season.”
Then he said:
“We didn’t actually see him dead; he was just lying in the ground. He survived the Demogorgon and he survived Vecna in season 4, episode 1…”
While Dr. Brenner may be among the unlucky ones, season five will feature many returning performers from the previous season. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Eduardo Franco are among those who have joined the cast.
Shawn Levy and the Duffer Brothers will also return to film most segments of Stranger Things season 5. The previous four seasons of Stranger Things are now available on Netflix.
