Matt Williams is an American former professional baseball player and manager who was born on November 28, 1965 in Bishop, California. He attended Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada and later played college baseball at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Williams was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first round of the 1986 Major League Baseball Draft and made his Major League debut in 1987. He played for the Giants until 1996 and then spent time with the Cleveland Indians, Arizona Diamondbacks and the team with which he ended up playing career, Washington Nationals.
