Matthew McConaughey Gives Joy Behar a Foot Massage on ‘The View’ — 17 Years After Viral Moment

Matthew McConaughey can add masseuse to his professional arsenal of skills!

When the 53-year-old actor appeared on View on Tuesday, he took time to honor longtime co-host Joy Behar by giving her a foot rub on air.

This isn’t the first time McConaughey has taken the 80-year-old moderator’s leg into his lap, as fans may remember back in 2006, the duo went viral at the same time.

After footage of the incident played, Behar described the massage as the “highlight” of her life and stuck her leg out on the Hot Topics table as she coyly added, “I happened to go get a pedicure this week.”

The Oscar winner immediately got down to business and began rubbing his foot as he told a personal anecdote about his father’s history of massaging his joints.

“This is my dad’s trick,” McConaughey said, explaining how he and his older brothers noticed their dates coming earlier and earlier.

He continued, “We leave at 8, they’d show up at 7. ‘Why did you show up at 7?’ When we’re out and ready for a date, who’s sitting on the couch rubbing their feet? Your date! Dad would always rub their feet.”

Behar was more than satisfied with his performance and noted, “Reflexology is your next career.”

Taken aback by the interaction, Whoopi Goldberg said, “I’m just going to let it all go,” before returning to their original topic.

Despite the playful stunt, McConaughey and Behar got into more serious topics elsewhere during his appearance on the talk show.

The television personality struck a nerve as they discussed McConaughey’s potential run for office in Texas when she mentioned his “anti-gun” activism after the Uvalde shooting.

“As for the function, I will always measure in which category I can be most useful”, he said, and Behar interjected. “Do you think you can get elected in Texas if you’re anti-gun?”

He seemed to ponder the question before raising a finger to her face, saying, “One thing about me and politics is, to give you a straight statement, that’s where I’m playing a game that I’m not interested in playing.”
