Matthew McConaughey walks down memory lane.
On Friday, the actor (54) shared a post on Instagram in which he referred to the “highlights” of the past 15 years in a sincere New Year’s message.
“McConaughey here! I know the New Year is right around the corner and every New Year we always want to think about New Year’s resolutions, the changes we want to make, but I just want to remind us that just because we’ve been given the things we want to change doesn’t mean we can’t look back step back and appreciate some of the things we may have pulled in the past and past successes,” he began.
Then he singled out that he would become a father and write his first book, Green lightsas important moments in his life, the Interstellar the star continued, “Just because I talk a lot about the journey, the lessons, the moments in life that define us, looking back on those things, thinking about the past year and the past 15 years of my life, those are some of the highlights.”
After asking the audience what the highlights of their lives include, McConaughey offered the following advice: “Take those moments, those green lights in your life and double them. Use them for momentum to help you enter the new year with confidence. make happen what you want to happen in your future.”

Continuing his heartfelt message, McConaughey said his call to action isn’t for viewers to brag, but rather to celebrate all they’ve accomplished over the years.
“I’m not talking about standing on ceremony, like, ‘Oh, look at me. Look at what I’ve done.’ I’m not talking about getting complacent. OK? I’m talking about taking credit for past accomplishments, honoring past successes maybe more than we do, and taking stock of how far we’ve come.”
McConaughey then asked viewers to follow his advice, which he said he gives “so we can look forward to where we want to go.”
“Here’s to the green lights of last year, for the lessons and joys they brought us,” he concluded. “This is for positives and lots of them. For being great at what we’re good at.”

Matthew McConaughey celebrates son Livingston’s 11th birthday: ‘We love watching you grow up’
McConaughey’s latest post comes a day after he celebrated his son Livingston’s 11th birthday on Thursday.
Then the proud dad celebrated the joy that his child – who he shares with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey along with son Levi (15) and daughter Vida (13) – is getting old.
“Double, we love watching you grow. Thank you for bringing so many smiles to our faces. love, dad,” McConaughey wrote alongside a photo of a smiling Livingston sitting on his lap on Instagram.
Alves McConaughey, 40, also posted a touching birthday message for their son on her Instagram page, reposting photos of her little brother that their son Levi shared.
“Well… When your oldest son has such a great post for his younger brothers birthday, I give up on my own sense!😂😂 repost it!” wrote Camila, adding a few special words about her youngest: “Today we celebrate, our youngest, turns 11!!! He brings so much joy and learning into our lives. It’s hard to describe it in words!!”
