Matthew Perry Fans Honor Late Actor with Tributes at Chandler Bing’s Friends Apartment in N.Y.C.

Matthew Perry is being honored by his fans.

After the actor died of an alleged drowning on Saturday at the age of 54, flowers were laid outside the New York apartment building where Friends character Chandler Bing lived.

In a video released by NBC News, fans can be seen gathering outside the building, which is located in Manhattan’s West Village, leaving flowers nearby on the street and taking photos of the site.

Perry starred in the hit sitcom alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow from 1994 to 2004.

Location shown on Friends is a six-story residential building located above the Mediterranean restaurant Little Owl.

The New Yorker previously reported that the first shot of the apartment building was shown in the sitcom’s pilot episode on September 22, 1994.

In 2017, Perry was working not far from the famous apartment building when he wrote and starred in an Off-Broadway play End of longing.

The production was held at the Lucille Lortel Theater in the West Village, which is a 2-minute walk from the Friends locality.

Perry was found dead in a home in Los Angeles on Saturday.

TMZ reported that the star was found in a jacuzzi at the residence, and no drugs or foul play were found at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department later told PEOPLE that officers responded to a call at Perry’s address regarding the death of a man in his 50s, although the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.

After his death, Warner Bros. released a statement about the beloved actor: “We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. family. Television Group. The impact of his comedic genius was felt throughout the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of many. This is a heartbreaking day and we send our love to his family, his loved ones and all his devoted fans.”
