What happened to Maxim Slobodian? Investigation into the cause of his death
According to Blick, a Swiss German-language daily newspaper and online news site, Maxim Slobodian died Saturday night after injuring himself in an unfortunate BASE jump. The disaster occurred after he continued his jump at the Sputnik launch site, also known as Crack Reminder. According to Blick, the disaster happened at 7 p.m., after he made the jump.
Maxim Slobodian reportedly crashed while flying in the “Tieregg” region in his wingsuit after hitting natural obstacles, believed to be trees or high-altitude terrain. Most of his injuries were sustained when the 31-year-old fell from about 300 meters. While Blick’s initial report did not include his parachute, other local sources said a malfunctioning parachute was the cause of his death.
Slobodiana attempted to rescue Reg, a private non-profit air rescue service, on the spot. Their on-site doctor, however, reportedly pronounced the BASE jumper dead on the spot. The obvious reason was the fatal injuries sustained in the fall. However, the exact type and degree of said complaints remain unknown.
According to Up to Brain, a small online news source, Slobodian’s parachute did not release as the professional skydiver fell to his death. However, no official source has confirmed this claim. More information about the cause of his death will probably be available when the St. Gallena examines the event. Whether the newly discovered information will be published remains to be seen.
Friends and acquaintances of Maxim Slobodian are pouring in condolences after his tragic death
Many people paid their respects to the deceased paratrooper after learning of his death. Among them were famous people in parachuting. Several tributes also paid tribute to Maxim Slobodian’s achievements in the field of parachuting. Ofer Yakov, a video producer, took to Instagram to pay a meaningful tribute to Slobodian. Yakov stated in the post:
“I wish it wasn’t true and I didn’t have to say goodbye to you today, Max. You were always very friendly towards me and you cared about me and the last voice message (sic) you gave me will serve as a confirmation of that.”

Maxim Slobodian was a Tandem instructor, pro-BASE jumper and accelerated free fall instructor, according to his Instagram profile. He allegedly had over 8,100 jumps as a paratrooper. According to some sources, the Ukrainian paratrooper has been involved in the sport for more than a decade.
