He excelled as a wrestler in high school, making a significant impact on the sport. His accomplishments included becoming a state wrestling champion with an undefeated season (37-0) and being named the Courier Journal’s Kentuckian Wrestler of the Year.
After high school, Max continued his education at the University of the Cumberlands. While competing on scholarship, he twice qualified for NAIA nationals and was recognized as an Academic All-American.
Max’s love for wrestling transcended his personal achievements. He accepted the opportunity to share his knowledge and passion with others. He became a teacher at Oldham County High School, where he inspired many students with his enthusiasm for education and unwavering support for their success.

Max genuinely cared about his athletes, students, colleagues and family and cherished the time he spent with them. Besides wrestling and education, Max had a number of interests and hobbies. He was known for his unwavering support of the University of Kentucky. Despite the disappointments his favorite team has offered over the years, Max’s loyalty and devotion never faltered.
He was an avid WWE fan and had a passion for movies. He often delved into the latest issues from the Marvel Universe, especially those featuring Captain America. In addition, he had a talent for cooking and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and mastering the art of grilling.
Max will be forever cherished by his loving parents, Steve and Chandra Emerson, his sister Ellen Emerson (married to Zuni Khaled), his twin brother Brady Emerson and his nephew Kaiyan Zunayed-Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rick Emerson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Maxwell is survived by his grandparents, Steve and Brenda Holloway and Carolyn Emerson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
