Mayim Bialik will not return as host Danger!.

On Friday, The Big Bang Theory The alum, 48, announced she was leaving her gig in a statement she shared on Instagram.

“When the holidays start in Hollywood, I have a few Danger! news,” she wrote. “Sony has informed me that they will no longer be hosting the syndicated version Danger!

“I am incredibly honored to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy for a host this year and deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Danger! family,” she added.

Bialik concluded her message by thanking the “fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew” for their support through “this incredible journey” on “America’s Favorite Quiz.”

Bialik assumed the role of co-host after longtime host Alex Trebek passed away in late 2020. In 2021, it was announced that Bialik and Ken Jennings would co-host the series on a rotating basis.

My grandparents were immigrants to this country and escaped the pogroms and World War II, so for me , in two generations to be in a position to be a woman and host in that iconic role, I am thrilled.”

Neither Bialik nor Jennings were Danger! first choice of alternate host. The show originally announced series executive producer Mike Richards as a permanent host in 2021. Richards was then removed from the position after his past controversial comments and alleged behavior resurfaced.

In May 2022, Bialik became the interim full-time showrunner when Jennings went on hiatus from the series. He returned the following month and the duo became permanent co-hosts Danger!.

However, Bialik continues Danger! fans often criticized him. Some even called for Bialik to be replaced on social media, while others claimed it was more about the show than the host. “I much prefer Ken, but Mayim does an adequate job. It’s the game that matters, not the host,” wrote one user.

During an appearance with Justin Long on her podcast Bialik Breakdownneuroscientist spoke about the harsh criticism she faced from longtime viewers for her involvement in the series.

According to Bialik, one of the most common comments she gets from fans is, “We don’t like you more than Ken.” Bialik also shared another remark that was passed on to her. “Like, ‘I saw you in a magazine. I was really confused. You looked beautiful,'” she recalled. “I get that often.”
