Mayim Bialik shares sons Miles and Frederick with her ex-husband Michael Stone
Mayim Bialik has been a celebrity since she was young, but to her children she is just a mom.
Big Bang Theory the actress deliberately kept her two sons, Miles and Frederick, who she shares with ex-husband Michael Stone, away from her Hollywood career.
However, with a Ph.D. in neuroscience at UCLA, Bialik also has another title: neuroscientist. She uses her expertise to homeschool her sons and write books to engage children in STEM learning. Bialik’s graphic novel anthology, Fact Flashout in 2021. She told PEOPLE that Miles and Frederick think the combination of science and superheroes is “pretty cool.”
“They usually think I’m really miserable,” she said. “So this was one of those times where I actually got a bunch of, ‘Hey, that’s really cool, Mom.’ ”

While Bialik and Stone divorced in 2012 Danger! host is currently in a relationship with Johnathan Cohen), the two have committed to healthy co-parenting. “Divorce is not the end of a family,” Bialik once wrote on her website. “This is the end of the nuclear family, the end of the family living in one house, but we still have responsibilities to each other and to our children as a family.”

Bialik’s older son, Miles Roosevelt Bialik Stone, was born on October 11, 2005. When Miles was young, Bialik “decided not to use nannies or babysitters” and became an advocate of attachment parenting.
“[It’s] not because we think we’re better than anyone else, it’s just a personal decision that we want to be the caregivers for our children,” Bialik told PopStar.com in 2010 about her decision to parent without help. “So we make it work that way, because that’s what we feel is best for our kids, and everything else fits into that. For us, nothing is more important than being with our children at any time of the day.”
According to Bialik, Miles showed an outgoing personality early on. “My 10-year-old is very sassy, as I’ve been told 10-year-olds can be,” she told PEOPLE in 2015. “He’s definitely got some of that 10-year-old. He wears a little leather jacket with sweatpants around the house, just strutting his stuff.”
The Flower star also shared with PEOPLE the following year that Miles had developed an affinity for the piano. “My older son really started playing the piano,” she explained. “He used to play classical music so he learned the ‘Moonlight Sonata’ and he just wants to play it all the time.”
The actress continued: “Then this weekend I taught him ‘Let It Be’, I sing and he follows me. It’s really, really funny.”
And while Bialik previously called parenthood “very, very humbling,” she claims she’s a “fun mom.”
“I’m a fun mom,” she told ABC News in 2013. “My boys think I’m fun, but I definitely have my parents’ strong work ethic and emphasis on chores. When they ask for pocket money for their chores, I say, ‘ I don’t get paid for my jobs. I don’t pay you for yours.’ ”
Bialik also has Miles to thank for her Danger hosting a gig. While guesting on the show in 2021, she revealed: “I’m starting my second week of hosting Danger!, I want to thank my 15-year-old Miles. He was the one who first suggested I try this and I hope to make him and his younger brother Frederick proud.”
She would later become a permanent co-host with Ken Jennings.

Bialik’s younger son, Frederick Heschel Bialik Stone, was born on August 15, 2008. He was named after Bialik’s grandfather, Frederick, and Rabbi Abraham Heschel, who marched with Martin Luther King Jr.
“He was born after an extremely quick and beautiful natural one-and-a-half-hour birth in our home, with help only for the final stage of forced labor!” Bialik told PEOPLE, adding that she used hypnosis to ease the pain. “Our 3-year-old, Miles, watched everything from his chair while eating granola!”
Not long after Fred was born, Bialik said Party tonight she considered returning to acting and “getting back into the industry.” She added: “I’m very happy to have my degree and I’ve worked very hard on my thesis, but in terms of the children and the family life we have, academia is not the place for me to go at the moment.”
However, Bialik still chose to keep her young sons away from her career in the spotlight. “I feel when they are closer to the age I was Beaches, for example, I would love to show them what my life was like back then,” she told PEOPLE when her children were 7 and 4, “but there are so many other things about me that I think are more interesting, more important, and sometimes more boring to them. . I think that’s identity enough.”
She also revealed that her sons only came for one shoot Big Bang Theory. However, as Fred and Miles got older, Bialik exposed them to more of her work.
