Joshua Williams, the Super Bowl winner, was born to parents George and Angela Williams. Unfortunately, Joshua lost his mother at an early age. George Williams left to raise Joshua alone and took on the roles of father and mother. The North Carolina native is now projected to be one of the Chiefs’ best players in the Super Bowl in 2024. Joshua Williams began a fantastic football career, starting as the starting cornerback at Fayetteville State University.
In his second season, he moved to outside cornerback, where he had outstanding numbers of 32 catches, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions. Although his junior season was canceled due to COVID-19, he persevered. In his senior year, Williams was named to the All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association first team. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Williams in the fourth round, and he made significant contributions. Furthermore, he made critical interceptions in key games, most notably in the AFC Championship. His outstanding effort in Super Bowl LVII helped the Chiefs win, cementing Williams’ status as a rising star in the NFL.
Parents of Chief Joshua Williams
Joshua Williams was born to George and Angela Williams on October 17, 1999 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His mother, Angela, died of heart problems when he was only six months old. Despite the difficulties of single motherhood, George William’s father moved to the Fayetteville area, near Angela’s relatives. Joshua was nurtured by a supportive community that included his great-aunt Ebony Augustus and uncle Ronald Louis Williams. Furthermore, Joshua refers to his father as ‘Superman’. This shows that George’s passion and effort did not go unnoticed.
Joshua’s football career began at the age of five, fueled by his father’s enthusiasm. George, an army veteran, instilled in Joshua a winning attitude and an aversion to losing. Furthermore, George remembers Joshua’s competitive drive, noting how his son would cry when he lost. This early introduction to the value of perseverance paved the way for Joshua’s future football success.
George William served in the US Army
George’s passion for service transcends his duty as a parent. George served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2009, where he was the NCOIC for Plans. Even after leaving the military, George remained involved in the defense industry, working as a military analyst at Totalis Consulting Group Inc. and then at Data Solutions & Technology Incorporated. Furthermore, during Joshua’s high school years, George accepted a contract job with Lockheed Martin, which required him to go to Europe for a short time.
In addition to Joshua, George and Angela had a daughter, Mattison Williams. George has not remarried, but has a child from a previous relationship named Kellisa Williams. Joshua also has a close relationship with his cousin Bryan Johnson, who he raised as a brother. George Williams, originally from Saint Kitts and Nevis, is proud of his Caribbean heritage. He graduated from Webster University with a degree in business administration in 2010.
In addition, he obtained a master’s degree in information technology and management from the same university. Joshua did not forget his father’s homeland, which is shown by the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis on his helmet. SKN even shared a photo of Joshua, congratulating him on his success. Emotional celebrations go beyond a football victory, they represent the triumph of a close-knit community and the collective pride of St. Kitts and Nevis.
